Just...Why?: YouTube's New Channel Design

Well it has finally happened; YouTube has finally imposed their new channel design upon us yesterday.

As someone who has been on YT for almost 6 years now, I cannot help but to feel sad on all the things that have been lost over the years, YouTube back then was so much different than it is now and seeing it getting ruined everyday by people in Google doing things that just defy any kind of logic or esthetical sense, you just wonder if Google is run by human beings at this point, for all we know they’re probably run by robots, if someone can have a company run by robots or AI, is them.

The new design is awful in every possible way, it’s completely generic, boring, monotone, hard to use, hard to customize and many more things, but by far the worst of all in my opinion and as an artist is the big huge gray thing, if you had the chance to apply some cool coloring to it, hell it would be awesome, but you can’t, you’re stuck with this gray boring thing that just looks depressing and it makes me feel like school, and that’s something I am happy to be done with, I don’t need to be taken back to those days :S

The only area available to customize now are the corners and that isn’t very much (Unless you have a HD monitor, but not many people do) in my case who has a 1280 x 800 pixels monitor, I only have a space worth of only 160 pixels on each corner to work with when it comes to making my own background images, and that ain’t much I tell you. This forces some people to apply some boring or lame monotone designs that just kills the uniqueness any channel can have, I feel sorry for the people who loved to upload their colorful pictures to decorate their background or the ones like me who toyed and played with the sizes and boxes to make something cool, we got screwed up.

Why all these stupid changes? Like I said, I think Google is run by machines at this point; that would so explain many things. It seems YouTube becomes less and less “General User” friendly with each modification. Is almost like if they were trying to force the “General User” to leave the site so they can have more space for all their corporate partners, it’s just awful :S

That scenario actually reminds me to a Simpsons Episode actually…how was it called? Oh yes “Hungry, Hungry Homer” it was episode 15 on season 12 (So you know it’s good XD) this episode is about Homer discovering all the awesome things he can accomplish if he protests and it’s actually for the benefit of other people, so he gets to feel pretty good about it. The main conflict comes when he discovers that the owner of Springfield’s Baseball team “The Isotopes” wants to sell the team to Albuquerque as an insistence by Duffman.

So Homer decides to go on a hunger strike until all the parties involved in the discovery confess the truth. Since he actually gets a lot of attention from the public, the owner of the team decides to use him as an attraction on the game. But eventually Homer becomes so sick and thin he decides to give up and is about to be fed with a hot dog by the team’s owner, it is here when Homer discovers that the Hotdog has southern ingredients and even says on the label “Albuquerque Isotopes” this is enough to prove that Homer was right, they kick the bad guy’s ass and Homer is fed by the crowd as they cheer him up. A really great episode, I recommend it n_n.

Now the big question, Atokad what does all this have to do with YouTube?

Simple, the owner of the team was already adding all of these details into the products like the Hotdog and the labels as a way of “Preparing the people to make the Isotopes Albuquerque’s team” and people didn’t notice it until Homer pointed it out, like a process of subliminal persuasion. It’s the same with YouTube, they are slowly and underneath most people’s radar applying all these changes turning YouTube into a place for big companies such as Disney and stupid people with lots of money and nothing better to do like Oprah to show their products and make YouTube basically…into the so called “HuluTube” this of course will virtually erase normal people like us out of the map, even big YouTube stars won’t be able to compete with that content.

And when we become aware of all these changes it will be too late, YouTube will be “TheirTube” and we will have to leave the site, that’s the future I can see.

Maybe it won’t get to that extent, I seriously hope not, but if it does, I have warned you, if you have lots of video and actually produce material that you distribute on the site, I should recommend you, be prepared for an emergency evacuation because…They Come...and this new stupid channel design is just another step into that dystopia.

My friends and I often joke about how is the machines conquest over men will be, one of them says that Google will become like Skynet and take over the world…you know…I think he might actually be right O_O;;

My Opinion About The New Trailer for Fire Emblem "Awakening"

Well I guess it's beyond saying I watched the new trailer and almost instantly I knew I had to say something, however I wanted to wait, make some investigations and I think I already formulated my opinion on the matter. So in my own classic style and because ANYONE can make a comentary and I am not ANYONE, here it is...delivered to you by FE Characters again ^O^

Video Recover: The Fangirl Crusader Chronicles 15 [Plus some Words]

Alright so, apparently, there is a Record Label in Japan called "Victor" who apparently owns some of the scores of some animes which I happen to use in my videos. As such, in the recent days they apparently have now started using the Copyright notices to take down videos with their content and there are already several videos I've had to take down, this one being the second.

This is getting out of hand and it's starting to get a little annoying >: ( somebody has to do something, somebody has to put a stop to this people, they are killing creativity on the Internet by doing this, there is nothing wrong protecting copyright, I understand, but come on! They have to be realistic and stop living in the 70s, How many video creators like me out there actually have the knowledge AND tools to compose their own music to use in their videos? Maybe 1 out of 100 or so, what's next? Video game Music? It's finally happening people, the end is coming.

Fortunately I could upload the video in Dailymotion and I hope it stays there for a while, shame I had to delete it, it was my best episode of the Fangirl Crusaders so far. But anyway...Enjoy n_n

My Chat Room Extra episode I made in preparation for the Halloween of 2010, this episode was so fun to make and personally I love how it all ended, it was a very different type of episode where I had to use a perfect synchronization of words, effects, sounds, background etc. All to create a very "Twilight Zone" feel with a nice twist at the end, definitely one of my most beloved episodes.

About why it was taken down? Well it was taken down for the most retarded reason EVER, its title as you see here is "A Cab in the Rain" well it turns out the title happen to match the name of a band called "Cab" and a song called "Rain" that belonged to an album that had "Cab" in the tittle, so Youtube assumed the video was about those bands and threw a Copyright infringement at me : ( forcing me to take down the video.
I mean...really? They took it down ALL BECAUSE OF THE TITTLE? I had never been so pissed before in my Youtube Life :S So be careful when you name your videos Ok? Because originality and cool naming can die thanks to this retarded and flawed system Youtube has, sure they fix the label which DOESN'T NEED FIXING but they can't fix their Copyright system? Screw them >: (

First of all, I am glad with the good response to the SOPA and PIPA video, I am happy to have done my part and while the laws are down for the moment, I hope people will keep fighting them and similar bills that come up that threatens the freedom of the Internet n_n.

Now to the main one, I was able to finally recover my two episodes of my series "The Fangirl Crusader Chronicles" that got deleted by YT, one by my own had due to copyright notice and the other was taken down by them causing me to get a strike just 2 weeks after I had an old one deleted and I was clean...shit : /

Anyway, I tried to upload both episodes into Dailymotion, unfortunately, The Second episode got rejected due to copyright again, however I was able to successfully upload episode 3 (Which I don't know why it got copyright notice in the first place, it only has 2 songs from the Tales games and 1 from a Doujin game...geez) and if I had to choose between the two, I am glad it was this one because here is where Estelle gets introduced into the story and I am happy to be able to recover it n_n.

As for future episodes, I am thinking on them of course, I have to finish the Thracian Virgins Suicides and after that I will work on a new episode from The Fangirl Crusader Chronicles.

In this episode Celice and Leaf set out to return a shitty dress that only a lonely woman trapped in 1920 with a boring life whose only goal is to be a baby machine for an asshole who will go to war and cheat on her. I can't believe how hard it is to find a descent video hosting site to upload all your stuff and be able to post it on this blog so you can share it with your viewers.

Recently in my channel in YouTube I've had to delete more than 40 videos in my account that had been noted as copyright infringements, it was that or having my account deleted.
It was a sad thing to happen, but I had to be safe.
Tons of hours I put in those videos had to be thrown in the garbage and for someone like me who enjoys the satisfaction of having a job well done after a lot of time of devoted dedication...is extremely heartbreaking.

While looking for a video hosting site to upload videos on this blog, hoping to find a place where the copyright wasn't so harsh that would actually allow fans to do what fans are supposed to do.
But sadly I found myself with the same history, I tried a bunch of sites, Dailymotion, Vimeo among many, but the I found they were the same as Youtube, or had features so horrible it just wasn't worth it.

Eventually I've had to set up with my trusty Megavideo account that has allowed me to share some special content with friends and it will have to do the job now, it might pop out an add in a separate window and for that I am terribly sorry, but it is the best I've been able to find so far. If I can find a site that allows me to be a fan and do what I as a fan of Fire Emblem, Touhou, Madoka etc is supposed to do, I will change to it, that is a promise and I am like Captain Harlock, I never break a promise n_n.

Despite how hard it is and how much it frustrates me and others like me, I do understand the reason for copyright, I wouldn't like someone using the ideas for my shows, that would of course piss me off. But I think there is a limit to how much you can get to do that.

What happened to those years where we fans could do many things for our franchises, drawings, videos, or even fan made stuff like rouge movies or even comics or doujins. It is extremely frustrating to love a franchise enough to want to honor it with fan material made by you, spend some of your beloved free time on it, enjoying all the work you do...only to find that you can't publish it anywhere because some company doesn't want you to use their stuff if you don't pay for the rights to use it even thought you don't seek to do anything other than just showing the love you have for your franchise.

Fans like me are not trying to make money off the franchises they love, and even the ones who somehow do earn money, I am sure most of them do it because they are FANS and they put the love for their franchises in front of their wallets. If things continue like this, one day the Internet will become IMPOSSIBLE for us fans to do our fan work because of the greed of people who just want money for everything their property is used for, next thing you know they will charge you for singing the songs in the shower, with how things are going, I seriously wouldn't be surprised if that actually happens.

It's good you want to protect your intellectual property, but don't go over the top about it, I mean what is this? One of those many dystopian future generic movies like Ultraviolet and Equilibrium?

Oh well...I have to say I've always been interested by the idea of having a blog, but I never had the desire to do so until now, why now? I don't know...I guess is a desire to expand or maybe I am bored.

Well, I am gonna be doing modifications to this thing as time goes on, but as of now I think the basics are already done well done and established n_n.
